Privacy Policy

VolleyWiz gives volleyball families one place for team schedules, live scores, results, rosters, photos and match videos. It is run by Innovative Data Solutions ("we"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We don't sell your information, and we don't use advertising or analytics trackers.

Fans: no account needed

You can follow a team without giving us your name, email address or phone number. When you follow, we create an anonymous fan profile that holds:

• the teams you follow and which alerts you want for each;
• a recovery code (like TIGER-MAPLE-42) to bring your teams to a new phone;
• a private link for your combined calendar feed;
• if you turn on alerts, the push address your phone's browser gives us (from Apple, Google or Mozilla's push service), so we can send notifications to that device;
• the alerts sent to teams you follow, which make up your Alerts inbox.

Your phone remembers your profile with a cookie. Anyone who has your recovery code can restore your profile, so keep it to yourself.

Coaches and team staff

Staff accounts store your name, email address, a securely hashed password, and your role on each team. We use your email to sign you in and to send password resets. Site administrators also get an email when a new team is created.

What teams post

Team staff enter tournaments, schedules, scores, rosters (player names and jersey numbers), photos, match videos, stream links and announcements. Depending on the team's setting, this is visible to anyone or only to people who have the team's share link. Teams shared by link are left out of our public team list and marked so search engines don't list them.

Young athletes

Many teams are youth teams. Team staff are responsible for having permission from parents or guardians before posting a player's name, photo or video. Fans never need to give us personal information, and we don't knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you'd like a name, photo or video removed, ask the team's staff or email us and we'll take it down.

Live scores and scorekeepers

Scores are entered by team staff or by someone a coach shares a scorekeeper link with. A phone that uses a scorekeeper link remembers it in a cookie until the link expires (after the tournament) or is turned off; we record how many phones used a link and when it was last used, but nothing about who they are. A phone keeping score may save unsent points on the device until it has a connection.

Cookies and storage on your device

• Sign-in session for staff, plus a security token that protects forms.
• Fan profile: remembers which anonymous profile is yours.
• Team access: remembers share links you've opened for teams that aren't in the public list.
• Scorekeeper access: remembers scorekeeper links this phone is using.
• Display preferences, such as dismissed notices, kept on your device.
• The installed app keeps copies of pages you've viewed so schedules load on poor gym Wi-Fi.

These are needed for VolleyWiz to work. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Services we rely on

We share only what each service needs to do its job:

• Railway: hosts the app and its database.
• Cloudinary: stores and serves team photos.
• Cloudflare R2: stores match videos, for teams that have them.
• Postmark: sends staff email such as password resets.
• Apple, Google and Mozilla push services: deliver alerts to your device.
• Google Maps: helps staff look up venue addresses and time zones.
• YouTube: plays live streams when you tap play (we use YouTube's privacy-enhanced player); stream links may also open other sites.

Our servers also keep routine logs (such as IP address and browser type) to keep the service secure and working.

How long we keep information

We keep team content while the team uses VolleyWiz; staff can edit or delete it at any time. We keep fan profiles and staff accounts until they're deleted. The messages that carry live scores to fans' screens are deleted within a day.

Your choices

• Unfollow teams or change and turn off alerts in Settings.
• Clear your browser's cookies and site data to remove your fan profile from that device (save your recovery code first if you want it back).
• Staff can change or delete their account under Your account.
• Email support@volleywiz.com to see, correct or delete information about you, including a fan profile.

Security

We use encrypted connections, encrypted cookies and hashed passwords, and limit who can change team content. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
